Liz Seymour is back at School Teaching
Well, summer is unofficially over, and although I'd love summer to last longer, I'm really glad to be back at work.
I went back to work for returning teacher orientation yesterday. It was really hard to get up so early and sometimes sitting so long during meetings can be tiring, but I was glad to be back.
I really enjoy my job for many reasons. One reason is because I LOVE the people I work with. I must have laughed my head off 5 times over the past two days during elementary department meetings and free times. The teachers that make up the elementary department have become my home away from home, since I spend much of my time with them during the school year.
When I taught in traditional bricks and mortar schools, I loved spending so much time with the children, but I really craved adult interaction, and a small lunch break with my peers wasn't quite doing it for me. In cyber school, I feel I get to work more closely with my peers while not sacrificing valuable time with my students.
Another thing that I really love about my job are the great students! Since my start at PALCS (www.palcs.org) I've been blessed with some really remarkable students who not only make an impact on my life but also teach ME things as we spend the year together. It is very rewarding to work with them. With a new bunch of students this year, I look forward to learning new things from them. I know some of them already and think that I have a really great bunch for this year.
To update you about my CD, yesterday I spent about 90 minutes shooting some more video for the Gimme Gimme music video. I hope it looks good. I was so worn out from my first day back at teaching that I wasn't particularly energized, but I tried to muster up some good work for each video take. We went to a park with several water locations and beautiful scenery, so I can't wait to see the final results.
I'll let you know!
